If you’re in need of a Grasshopper or spares for one, by all means get in touch via elnafan at btinternet dot com and I’ll gladly see what I can do to help.
Please bear in mind that although I’m happy to ship stuff to many parts of the planet, I’m based in England!
I may have a vintage Elna, what exactly makes it vintage, I’m not positive. How much do these things generally sell for? Thanks!
In this context, “vintage Elna” means a metal-bodied machine, made by Elna, in Switzerland. How much they sell for depends on where you are, what model, what condition, how complete etc etc etc – and how lucky you are!
I’ve recently acquired a grasshopper, and in shipment, the bobbin holder broke. So, I’m desperately looking for a replacement.
Hi Susan
You have email
Sid
My mother has one of these and it is in great condition. However I understand that she needs a cord and if possible I would like to get her a couple of belts for it. Please advise if you have any and the cost of said items. Thank you very much it is so hard to find her parts.
Jill, I’m sorry but at present I don’t have either to spare. Sorry!
Sid
That is fine if you happen across any just let me know please. Thank you.
What a fantastic sewing machine! If I could just remember how to open it each time I want to sew!
I am looking for the lower half of the knee controller and some bobbins. My Grasshopper was made in 1951 and is in excellent condition. Thank you…this is a great site.
Pam, I’m afraid that I can’t do you either just now. Hopefully somebody who can will see this and contact you
I was bidding on one and it went to high and someone saw my name and contacted me asking if I wanted to buy his machine for much less than the other one. I said YES! Now I would like spare bobbins if anyone has some. Great site by the way
I have three Vintage Elnas I wish to sell so went looking on the Web to see what the going price is now-a-days for these wonderful machines and if anyone is looking to buy one (or more).
One is an Elna Grasshopper in spectacular condition (both operational and appearance) with accessories and I have two Elna Supermatics – again, one is in spectacular condition with accessories and the second is in near perfect conditon and operational however, I believe it may require a new belt as it seems to be a tiny bit on the noisy side but nonetheless, still works.
I have lots of pictures of these machines available for viewing if you are interested. Thanks so much and hope to find some loving homes for these beauties soon.
I have an old Elna sewing machine in a very good shape, my mother bought it around 1950 , but the electric cable with the plug to put in the machine is missing. Do anybody know where to get one
The early round-pin plugs sometimes show up on Ebay, but the only source that I know of for new plugs of the later type is Wittner Cinetec in Hamburg. See Best.-Nr. 4092 on this page
If anybody knows of another supplier, please tell us all about it!
Thank you very much for this link. I was beginning to think I would never find a plug for my Elna No. 1.
Kind regards.
